A tropical home with clean lines and old-world details

This single-storey villa in Balabac mixes modern tropical architecture with Mediterranean and Spanish-Filipino touches: white textured walls, bold black columns and frames, arched niches and a sheltered lanai beside the pool.

The owner wanted one supplier for everything that had to fit the building exactly: the windows and doors, the main entrance, the perimeter gate, the kitchen and the built-in joinery, plus the mosaic tiles for the pool and bathrooms.

All of it was made in our factories and handled by one technical team, so frame colours, opening sizes and cabinet dimensions were checked against each other before shipping. When the house was finished the owner sent us the photographs on this page.

What we made for the villa

Product group What we supplied Why it was specified this way
Windows and sliding doors Matte black powder-coated aluminum windows and large sliding openings with toughened safety glass, in awning and sliding configurations. Slim frames keep the facade clean; opening sashes let air move through the house in the heat.
Entrance and gate A double entrance door for the main porch and a decorative wrought-iron security gate for the street front. The entrance and gate set the black-and-white look of the whole property.
Kitchen Soft-grey Shaker-profile cabinets on high-moisture-resistant boards, a hard-wearing worktop and a large preparation island. Moisture-resistant boards resist swelling in tropical humidity.
Living-room joinery Floor-to-ceiling arched niches with timber floating shelves and low cabinets on either side of the double doors. Built-in niches give display and storage without freestanding furniture.
Tiles Cobalt-blue mosaic tiles for the freeform pool and mosaic tiles for the bathrooms. Small-format mosaic follows the pool’s curves and handles constant water.
Finishes UV-resistant exterior powder coating on all aluminum, matched to the black columns. A coating chosen for strong sun keeps the black from fading.

What the tropical climate asked of the products

Rain and wind

Openings that stay weather-tight in the monsoon

The Philippines sees intense sun, heavy downpours and typhoon winds. The window and door systems had to stay watertight without heavy, bulky frames.

The slim aluminum frames were made with reinforced extrusions and double perimeter compression seals, and the sills were detailed with deep rebates so driven rain cannot run back inside.

Humidity

Joinery that does not swell or attract termites

Ordinary cabinet boards absorb moisture in a humid climate and can attract termites.

The kitchen and built-in joinery use high-moisture-resistant boards treated for termite resistance, with solid worktops that cope with daily use.

The sheltered porch and double entrance door.

An entrance that sets the tone

The main porch is sheltered by a deep roof on black columns. Our double entrance door sits at the back of the porch, framed by white textured stone walls.

Black frames, columns and door create a strong contrast with the white walls, and the same black returns on every window around the house.

Arched niches that frame the living room

In the living room, two floor-to-ceiling arched niches frame the glazed double doors. Warm timber floating shelves hold books and objects, and the low cabinets underneath give closed storage.

Black-framed windows on the side wall bring in daylight and cross-ventilation. The polished timber floor and warm shelving balance the cool white walls.

A Shaker kitchen with Mediterranean colour

The kitchen pairs soft-grey Shaker-profile cabinets with a large preparation island. Patterned splashback tiles and warm terracotta-tone flooring give it its Mediterranean character.

Because the cabinets are built on high-moisture-resistant boards, they keep their shape in a kitchen that is often humid and warm.

One black frame colour, inside and out

From the street, the black wrought-iron gate and the black window frames read as one family with the columns and roof edge. Along the side of the house, wide black-framed windows sit in white stone walls above low planters.

Every window, door and the gate used the same powder-coated finish, so there is no shade difference between parts made on different lines.

Planning windows and joinery for a tropical project

For villas in typhoon and monsoon regions, we agree these points with the owner or architect before production.

  1. Give us the wind and rain conditionsTell us the design wind pressure or the local code your engineer works to. Frame depth, glass thickness and reinforcement are chosen from it.
  2. Detail the sillsDeep sill rebates and drainage paths matter more than seals alone in driven rain. Confirm how the sills meet your floor and wall finishes.
  3. Ask for the coating specificationStrong sun fades ordinary paint. Agree the powder-coat colour and UV-resistant grade, and keep one batch for the windows, doors and gate.
  4. Use moisture-resistant boardsIn humid climates, kitchen and built-in joinery should use high-moisture-resistant boards with sealed edges.

Questions about tropical villa supply

Common questions from owners building in hot, wet climates.

Can windows, doors, the gate and the kitchen come from one supplier?

Yes. On this villa the windows, sliding doors, entrance door, iron gate, kitchen, built-in joinery and mosaic tiles were all made under one order, with one team checking sizes and finishes across the categories.

Are the windows checked before they are shipped?

Yes. Cabinet units, window frames and hardware sets for this project were pre-assembled and checked in the factory before crating.

How was everything packed for the Philippines?

The products were packed in moisture-sealed, fumigated export crates and shipped together in a full container load.
