Bathroom Basin Installation Types

White ceramic pedestal sink in a bathroom setting

Pedestal Basins

LX3037 is a one-piece ceramic pedestal basin and LX3008 a two-piece bowl on its own pedestal. Both give a freestanding wash point without a vanity, which suits powder rooms and compact guest bathrooms; add a shelf or mirror cabinet for storage.

Undermount Basins

A rectangular bowl sits below the countertop, leaving a clean stone edge and nothing on the deck to wipe around. We draw the countertop cutout from the bowl's own profile, so basin and top arrive as a matched pair.

Natural-Stone Vessel Basins

Carved stone vessels sit on top of the counter as a feature piece. Each one is cut from natural stone, so color and veining vary from basin to basin. Allow for the outside size on the counter and pair it with a tall or wall-mounted faucet.

White WB-5060 wall-hung basin with a faceted front, rear faucet deck and central undershroud

Wall-Hung Basins & Washstands

WB-5060 is a wide wall-hung basin and 6606-02 a ceramic corner basin for tight rooms. DP907 is an artificial-stone washstand with two integrated bowls on a shared deck. All three leave the floor clear and need solid wall fixing behind.

Basin Bodies, Rims & Supporting Surfaces

Ceramic, Artificial & Natural Stone

Pedestal, corner and wide wall-hung basins are ceramic, DP907 is artificial stone, and the vessels are carved from natural stone. Each product page lists outside and bowl dimensions.

Basin Rim & Counter Edge

Undermount, vessel and pedestal basins meet the counter or floor in different ways. We work from the bowl's own outline when drawing a cutout, never from a nominal size.

Waste & Faucet Components

Overflow, waste and faucet position are matched together. Basins without a faucet hole take a deck or wall faucet, which we specify so the spout lands in the bowl.

Bathroom Sink Quote Factors

Material & Body Form

Carved stone and artificial-stone washstands take more shaping and finishing than molded ceramic, and the quote reflects it.

Countertop Integration

An undermount basin adds a polished cutout edge to the countertop; a vessel needs only a waste hole but a taller faucet. When we supply the top as well, both appear on one quote.

Size & Shape

Wide wall-hung bodies, twin-bowl washstands and irregular stone vessels need more packing. We quote packing with the basin so the delivered cost is clear.

Basin, Waste or Full Set

Basin only, basin with waste, or basin with top and faucet: tell us which and we price exactly that, with cabinets and mirrors as their own lines.

Coordinating a Basin Order

  1. Place each basin

Send the vanity or room plans with basin positions. We check front projection and bowl size against doors, storage and counter space.

  2. We draw the cutout

For undermount and vessel basins we draw the countertop opening from the bowl's profile; for wall-hung and pedestal basins we mark the fixing and pipe positions.

  3. Match faucet and waste

We set the faucet so water lands in the bowl, match the waste to the overflow and keep the trap clear of vanity drawers.

  4. Pack basins with their tops

Each basin ships with its waste and a room label. Stone rims and ceramic edges are protected, and paired tops and bowls are packed together.

Bathroom Sink Purchasing Questions

How big is the undermount countertop cutout?

Smaller than the basin. The opening follows the inner bowl plus the reveal you want, so we draw it from the basin's template and the rim stays hidden under the top.

Which faucet works with a vessel basin?

A tall deck faucet or a wall-mounted faucet. We check spout height and reach against the vessel so water lands in the bowl instead of on the rim.

Where does storage go with a pedestal basin?

On the wall. Pair the basin with a mirror cabinet or a shelf, since the pedestal itself is a single ceramic fixture.

What holds a wall-hung basin?

Fixings into solid wall or a mounting frame behind the tiles. We send the fixing positions with the basin drawing so your contractor can prepare the wall before tiling.

Which waste do I need for my basin?

It depends on whether the basin has an overflow, which we state for each model. We supply a slotted waste for basins with an overflow and an unslotted one for those without.

How do I choose a natural-stone vessel basin?

Start with the outside size on the counter, then the inner bowl and rim shape. Each carved basin is cut from natural stone, so expect variation in color and veining from one to the next.
