A floor-standing vanity has three closed drawers, an open empty cupboard and a seated basin, with an unconnected faucet, trap and two hoses on a separate table.

Bathroom Vanity Cost: 7 Items a Cheap Quote May Leave Out

Check seven separate vanity cost lines and follow a complete quote comparison from a cabinet-only price to an accepted installed-task choice.

A cheap bathroom vanity quote may cover only the cabinet, while a higher figure includes the top, basin, faucet, connection parts, delivery and installation. The seven checks below separate those scopes. In the quotation dated October 30, 2026, a USD 690 cabinet becomes USD 1,670 for the defined completed task; a confirmed USD 1,600 package is USD 70 lower. Amounts are pre-tax.

A low initial price does not establish that a seller hid anything. A cabinet-only offer can be appropriate when the buyer already has a top and installers. The problem is comparing it with a different scope and treating the headline difference as savings. First define the finished task, then ask who supplies and performs each part.

Fix what the cabinet price already includes

Record the cabinet width, depth, layout, material and finish references, door/drawer arrangement and supplied hardware. Hardware should not become an automatic add-on. Hinges, slides and handles may be included, separately selected or supplied by someone else; read the actual offer.

Real packages differ. Home Decorators Collection’s current vanity builder lets the buyer select faucet-hole configuration while stating that the faucet is purchased separately. A separate official Vanity Combo guide hosted by The Home Depot for model PPMDNWHT24M lists handles in the included hardware but excludes the faucet, drain and supply lines. Those examples demonstrate the need to read the packing list, not a rule about every vanity sold by that business.

For V-47 below, the USD 690 base explicitly includes one 1,000 × 500 mm floor-standing cabinet, its doors/drawers, hinges, slides, handles and agreed finish. There are no additional panels or fillers in this layout. The mounting format is already chosen; the exercise does not compare floor-standing with floating installation or assign moisture performance to a board name.

Seven items to check outside the base price

1. A finished countertop

Identify the material, thickness, plan dimensions, exposed edges, basin opening and faucet-hole pattern. “Top included” should distinguish a finished, coordinated piece from raw material that still needs fabrication. Ask who verifies the basin template and final dimensions before cutting.

Keep supply and fitting separate. In this example, the countertop line pays for the finished top and its agreed openings and edges. The work of setting it onto the cabinet appears under installation, so it is not charged again here.

2. The basin and its mounting components

A top with an opening is not the same as a top with a basin. Identify the exact basin, overflow arrangement, mounting method and included mounting parts. Confirm fit against the cabinet, top and usable drawer space, not just the outside width.

For the model, basin supply includes its specified mounting kit. Assembly labor is in item 6. The waste fitting and trap are in item 4. That separation avoids adding another “sink package” on top of parts already included.

3. The faucet

Specify the actual model, finish and hole arrangement. A predrilled hole is not a supplied faucet, and a photograph showing a faucet is not a packing list. Check the supplied parts of that exact faucet before adding connection items.

The V-47 faucet is deliberately defined as a bare mixer without waste or supply hoses. If a real offer includes those parts, remove them from any separate parts line before calculating the total.

4. Waste, trap and supply-connection parts

List the waste assembly, trap and required hoses or adapters against the chosen basin and the verified existing services. Account for overflow compatibility and space within the cabinet using the actual product documents. A plumber should not be expected to improvise a package from a finish photograph.

Here this line buys the specified waste, trap, hoses and necessary adapters once. It excludes labor. The faucet, basin and installation lines have been checked for duplicate parts; none of these connection components is hidden elsewhere in the model.

5. Delivery to the agreed room

Define the delivery endpoint: loading point, curb, building entrance or the bathroom itself. Include unloading, stairs or lift access, internal handling and packaging removal where required. A transport charge with no endpoint is not a comparable delivery scope.

The line covers all V-47 goods to the bathroom using a confirmed clear access route, including unloading, internal handling and packaging removal. It is not an export freight or customs model. Special lifting, storage and repeat attendance are excluded unless later required and agreed.

6. Cabinet installation and top/basin assembly

State who positions, levels and fixes the cabinet, fits the countertop and mounts the basin. Include the specified fixings, sealants and assembly consumables if that is the accepted scope. Verify the actual wall and floor conditions before treating the service as executable.

In V-47, this is a defined furniture/assembly service on an assumed checked substrate. It includes setting and securing the cabinet and fitting the top and basin. It stops before connecting the water supplies and waste to existing services, which is item 7.

7. Water and drain connection with completion checks

Identify the competent service provider, exact connection boundary and agreed functional/leak checks. Follow local requirements and the actual product instructions when appointing that provider. Paying for a cabinet installer does not automatically include plumbing work.

The model’s plumbing scope mounts and secures the faucet to the top, fits the waste assembly to the basin, connects the specified mixer and waste set to verified existing service points, and performs the agreed checks. Faucet mounting and waste fitting are included in item 7’s USD 180, not item 6’s assembly charge. It uses the parts already bought under item 4. Moving services, replacing faulty existing valves and repairing concealed drainage are outside this particular comparison.

Distinguish the cabinet, top and basin from loose faucet and waste components.

V-47: normalize the offers without adding parts twice

V-47 vanity drawing and seven numbered scope additions separate top, basin, faucet, connection parts, delivery, assembly and plumbing, totaling 980 dollars beyond the 690 cabinet.
V-47 separates supplied components from delivery, furniture assembly and plumbing. Its seven additions total USD 980, making the cabinet route USD 1,670 before tax.

Currency is USD; all totals are before taxes. No price is attributed to the real product sources above. The common task is one cabinet as defined, a 1,020 × 520 mm nominal 20 mm polished engineered-quartz top, one specified ceramic basin and one specified single-hole mixer with matching waste trim.

Both routes use the same accepted product and finish schedule, layout and service endpoint: delivered to the bathroom, assembled, fixed and connected to the verified existing services, with the agreed completion checks. No mirror or electrical work is included.

V-47 seven scope additions and the confirmed complete alternative, USD before tax
Scope item Route A: cabinet plus accepted additions Route B: confirmed package
Base cabinet 690; agreed cabinet, hinges, slides and handles included. Included in the single 1,600 package total; same schedule.
1. Finished top 220; specified material, openings and edge finish. Same finished-top scope included.
2. Basin 90; specified basin and mounting kit. Same basin and mounting-kit scope included.
3. Faucet 140; specified mixer, without waste or hoses. Same mixer scope included.
4. Connection parts 70; waste, trap, hoses and adapters once. Same parts included, with no separate duplicate addition.
5. Delivery / handling 120; all goods to the bathroom, unloading and packaging removal. Same endpoint and handling included.
6. Installation / assembly 160; cabinet fixing and top/basin fitting; specified consumables. Same assembly scope included; excludes plumbing labor here.
7. Plumbing service 180; faucet mounting, basin waste fitting, existing-service connection and agreed checks. Same faucet/waste fitting, connection and checks included.
Complete task 690 + 980 = 1,670. 1,600 complete package; no separate row prices implied.

The seven additions total USD 980: 220 + 90 + 140 + 70 + 120 + 160 + 180. Route A therefore totals USD 1,670. Its initial USD 690 price is USD 910 below B’s headline, but that difference compares a cabinet with a completed task. After the scope is matched, B is USD 70 lower, not USD 910 more expensive for the same thing.

Confirm the handoffs, then make the choice

Assume A’s goods suppliers confirm the exact schedule and the stated additions. Its assembly provider accepts the buyer-supplied cabinet, top and basin after reviewing the documents; its plumbing provider accepts the specified parts and checked service points. Delivery is coordinated for the same access route. Each provider identifies who receives damaged goods, who authorizes corrective work and which fitting errors it will remedy. Replacement of defective supplied parts remains with the relevant goods seller under the agreed service terms.

Assume B replies in writing that its USD 1,600 includes every row’s scope, uses the same approved schedule and provides the named assembly and plumbing services. B accepts coordination of delivery and the defined fitting interfaces, with the same damage-reporting and completion-record requirements. This is an executable assumed offer, not a total made comparable by adding unaccepted allowances.

The buyer chooses B at USD 1,600 for the defined task because it is USD 70 lower and provides the preferred coordination arrangement. Route A remains a valid completed alternative; its low cabinet price is not described as deceptive. The decision does not imply that B guarantees every hidden site condition or every future repair.

Before a real order is released, verify the actual measurements, opening templates, fixing conditions, service points and responsible providers against the accepted documents. If the site changes, obtain a priced revision rather than silently treating unquoted work as included.

Keep the remaining scope outside the comparison visible

  • Taxes and destination-specific statutory charges: excluded from both model totals, not assumed to be zero. Determine the actual treatment before setting the payable budget.
  • Removal and remedial work: old-vanity removal, wall/floor repair and concealed-service defects are excluded.
  • New scope: mirrors, lighting, electrical work, service relocation, special lifting, storage and repeat visits are excluded.

This is a complete comparison of the defined vanity task, not the full cost of renovating a bathroom. Changing a top material, adding a basin or altering the room-access requirement changes the scope and requires a new comparison.

Send NOVARMIA the cabinet schedule, top and basin references, parts lists and delivery/installation boundary to discuss an offer with visible inclusions. Keep each accepted addition attached to its item so the same part or service is funded once.

FAQ

What if I already own the basin or faucet?

Remove its supply cost from both routes only after the receiving provider accepts the actual item and its documents. Keep any inspection, fitting or connection work visible. An owned part is not automatically compatible or cost-free to install.

Should a contingency replace an unanswered inclusion?

No. Obtain the scope answer first. A separate contingency can address defined uncertainty, but it should not conceal whether the quoted price includes a known basin, delivery task or service. Keep unresolved scope and risk allowance distinct.

How should a discount be allocated across the comparison?

Record the discount against the exact offer and conditions that earned it. Do not apply a package discount again to individual rows already included in that total. Preserve the gross amount, discount and payable quoted amount.

Does the package comparison determine the payment schedule?

No. Agree deposits, progress payments, delivery acceptance and service completion separately. A lower same-scope total does not establish that advance-payment terms or corrective-work arrangements are acceptable.
