Cafe interior with upholstered banquette seating, pale tabletops, wood chairs, pendant lights and an oak service counter

Restaurant & Cafe Interior Design

Plan dining areas, service counters and customer routes around the way your restaurant or cafe operates. We develop interior layouts, furniture and finish selections, and rendered views, with design-only or design-and-procurement options.

Dining Layouts, Interior Views & Material Selections

We develop the customer-facing interior from your menu, service format, floor plan and budget. The design connects dining furniture with ordering, collection and staff access, then develops the materials and decorative lighting direction for the areas included in the commission.

Design componentContent prepared for review
Dining & Seating LayoutProposed table groups, chair or bench arrangements, counter seating and the routes around them, with furniture counts tied to the current layout.
Service-Area ArrangementCustomer-facing counter, ordering, display and pickup positions, plus staff access and service-station locations informed by the operator’s brief.
Selected Interior ViewsAgreed views showing furniture proportions, wall treatments, major finishes and the relationship between seating, counters and decorative fixtures.
Furniture & Finish DirectionProposed furniture types, surface and upholstery references, finish locations and decorative lighting selections for further product and sample review.

Restaurant Dining & Cafe Service Areas

Dining Rooms, Lounge Seating & Table Groups

We arrange the dining furniture around your intended service format and customer groups. Two-person and larger tables, movable chairs, proposed bench seating and lounge areas can be compared for fit and flexibility. Entrances, windows, fixed columns and the paths used by customers and staff stay clear in the layout instead of being treated as spare space for more seats.

Furniture Sourcing from China

Ordering Counters, Pickup & Display Areas

For cafes and counter-service restaurants, we plan the customer-facing ordering, payment, product display and collection points around the operator’s sequence. Equipment dimensions and staff access inform the counter arrangement. Storage fronts, shelves and backbar finishes are coordinated with that layout; detailed equipment and commercial-kitchen design remain their own work.

Restaurant & Cafe Millwork Procurement

Seating, Counter Finishes & Decorative Lighting

We coordinate the furniture and finish palette with how each area is used. Dining seats, service-counter surfaces, wall treatments and decorative fixtures are considered together, with the operator’s cleaning and product requirements carried into the later selection.

Table Shapes, Seat Types & Upholstery

We compare table formats, chair profiles and proposed upholstered or bench seating against the floor plan and intended mix of guests. Furniture proportions, colors and upholstery direction shape the dining area. Final dimensions, construction and fabric specifications are confirmed through the selected products or custom drawings instead of being assumed from a rendered view.

Counters, Wall Treatments & Adjoining Surfaces

The counter face, top, display shelving, partitions and wall finishes are developed as one composition. Material transitions, exposed edges and the relationship to nearby tables receive attention where they affect the design. Physical samples and supplier information are used for final product decisions, including the operator’s required cleaning and use conditions.

Pendant Lights, Wall Lights & Interior Atmosphere

We develop decorative fixture types and their intended positions relative to tables, counters and feature walls. The brief can distinguish daytime cafe use from an evening dining atmosphere. Electrical design, light-level calculations, controls, emergency lighting and installation coordination require the appropriate local specialists.

Service Format, Equipment & Existing Site Inputs

Your operating brief gives the interior layout a practical starting point. We use it to understand where guests arrive, order and sit, where staff need access, and which equipment or existing site conditions constrain the customer-facing design.

Project inputInformation usedDesign decision
Service & Menu BriefTable service or counter ordering, dine-in and takeaway mix, display needs, pickup method and staff service-station requirements.Seating zones, counter functions, customer routes and the staff access points considered in the interior layout.
Current Site PlanDimensions, entrances, windows, columns, ceiling heights, existing furniture and fixed kitchen or service-area boundaries.Furniture fit, retained items, ceiling and wall features, and questions needing verified local dimensions or specialist review.
Equipment & ServicesSelected equipment models and dimensions, operating and access needs, and service information provided by suppliers and local professionals.Customer-facing counter space, openings, furniture interfaces and areas that remain dependent on the kitchen or engineering team.
Budget & Brand DirectionInterior and furniture budget, brand references, desired dining atmosphere, landlord constraints and the owner’s review contacts.Furniture and finish options, selected interior views and the changes to submit for owner, landlord or local professional review.

Restaurant Layout Development & Owner Review

The design develops from the service brief to the dining and counter arrangement, then into selected visual details. Consolidated feedback connects the owner’s decisions with comments from the local kitchen, engineering and installation teams.

  1. Agree the Service Brief & Interior Areas

We review the floor plan, service format, equipment information, budget and retained items. Our proposal identifies the customer-facing areas, design detail, views and files to be prepared, together with the revision allowance. Missing measurements and equipment selections are identified before they become fixed assumptions in the layout.

  2. Develop Seating, Counters & Material Direction

We develop the dining and service-area arrangements, then the agreed interior views and finish options. Owner feedback addresses furniture fit, appearance and the intended service use. Comments that affect equipment interfaces or local requirements return to the relevant team before the affected design detail is accepted.

  3. Confirm the Interior & Hand Off Product Selections

The owner confirms the accepted layout, furniture and finish direction, with outstanding decisions identified. We issue the included design files. Procurement can then develop itemized furniture and material selections, samples and custom product details against that design, with purchasing and manufacturing approvals handled in their own stage.

This commission covers interior layout, furniture, finishes and decorative lighting direction. Commercial-kitchen planning and equipment engineering, exhaust and fire systems, structural and MEP work, accessibility and egress compliance, permits and installation remain with qualified local professionals. The operator retains responsibility for food-service licensing and operating procedures.

Restaurant Design Fees, Files & Revisions

Design can be purchased independently or combined with procurement. Our proposal identifies the included areas and views, level of furniture and finish detail, file formats and revision allowance; product prices and local trade work are separate from the design fee.

Interior Area, Detail & Existing Information
The fee reflects the size and complexity of the dining and service areas, the extent of custom features, requested views and the condition of the existing project information. Added terraces, private dining rooms or other areas change the design workload. Site visits, surveys and specialist work are included only when expressly offered.
PDF Layouts, Rendered Images & Editable CAD
The agreed handoff can include PDF layouts, rendered images and editable CAD files. Our proposal names the views, drawings and formats. These interior files support owner review and the next product or local design stage; supplier fabrication drawings and locally approved construction documents have their own review and preparation requirements.
Consolidated Feedback & Additional Design Work
Our proposal states the included revision rounds within the first brief. Additional rounds, added areas or a changed concept or service format are quoted on their own, with the fee and timing effect agreed before the extra work begins. Corrections to our own errors do not count against the customer’s revision allowance.

Restaurant & Cafe Design Questions

Can I commission the design without buying furniture or counters?

Yes. Design can be commissioned on its own or combined with procurement. Our proposal identifies the design files, included work and fee. Product purchases follow their own selections and commercial terms; commissioning a design does not commit you to a furniture or millwork order.

Can you redesign a cafe while keeping its existing counter or furniture?

Yes. Provide current plans, photos, verified dimensions and the items to retain. We develop the new seating and finish direction around those constraints. Where an existing counter, equipment item or concealed condition affects the design, its dimensions and service information need to come from the local team or supplier.

Does the interior design include the commercial kitchen?

The interior layout can coordinate with a kitchen plan supplied by your kitchen specialist. We use the equipment and service-area information where it meets the dining room or customer-facing counter. Kitchen engineering, ventilation, fire systems, gas, plumbing and food-service approvals are handled by the appropriate local specialists.

Can you show how many tables and seats fit?

Yes. Proposed furniture counts can be shown for the agreed layout and service brief. Those counts are design information and do not set an approved occupancy or operating capacity. Your local professionals review accessibility, required circulation, egress and other applicable requirements before the layout is finalized for local work.

Can our local contractor work from your design files?

The handoff can include PDF, rendered images and editable CAD for the agreed recipients and purpose. Your local professionals and contractors verify site information and prepare the construction and installation documents required for their work. File delivery does not by itself confer permit approval or an unrestricted transfer of design rights.

Can you follow our restaurant brand or franchise standards?

Yes. Include the current brand documents, required furniture or finish references and the review contact in the brief. We use them as design inputs and incorporate the agreed comments. Approval remains with the owner, franchisor or other authorized reviewer; it is not guaranteed by the interior design commission.
