Can both double-hung window sashes move?
Yes. The upper sash lowers and the lower sash rises. The user can open the top, bottom or both ventilation positions while the sashes remain within their vertical tracks.
Is a double-hung vinyl window the same as a horizontal vinyl slider?
No. Double-hung sashes move up and down. A horizontal slider moves side to side. Their frame tracks, clear opening and operating components are different even when both frames are vinyl.
Can the sashes tilt in for cleaning?
Yes, as an option. The standard window slides vertically; the tilt-in version adds pivot hardware so both sashes tip inward for cleaning from inside, which is useful on upper floors.
Can the upper and lower sash heights be different?
The custom layout can use different proportions, with each glass area and sash weight scheduled on its own. The meeting-rail position affects sightlines, travel and the usable top and bottom openings.
What changes when Low-E or laminated glass is selected?
The coating or interlayer changes the complete glass build and can change sash weight. Each sash’s glazing pockets and support hardware need to suit that package. Glass appearance and whole-window performance remain separate specifications.
Are screens and opening restrictions the same thing?
No. The screen is an insect barrier with a removable cleaning arrangement. A travel limiter or required fall-protection measure is a separate function tied to the installed position and project requirements.
