Living and dining interior with warm recessed, pendant and concealed shelf lighting

Lighting Design & Fixture Selection

We develop lighting layouts and selects fixtures for homes and hotel rooms. Start with your room and furniture plans, then choose design-only support or a design-and-supply package. Wiring layouts and lighting simulations are included where specified in the design proposal.

Lighting Layouts, Fixture Selection & Simulation

We use your room and furniture plans to place general, task and accent lighting. The fixture selection connects those positions to types, models and quantities for pricing. Wiring-layout information and simulation are added where included in the design commission.

Design workWhat it covers for your project
Lighting LayoutPositions and fixture types for general, task and accent lighting, using the room layout, furniture positions and ceiling conditions.
Fixture SelectionFixture types and selected models for the design, with quantities, mounting requirements and product information used for quotation.
Lighting Wiring LayoutLighting positions and wiring-layout information for review by the local electrical team. Final circuits, installation and code compliance remain with that team.
Lighting SimulationA review of the proposed arrangement using the available room, surface and fixture information, where simulation is part of the design commission.

Lighting Plans for Homes & Guest Rooms

Living Rooms, Kitchens & Dining Areas

We position dining lights around the table, kitchen task lights around the work surfaces, and living-room lighting around seating, artwork and circulation. Ceiling height, mounting space and furniture dimensions guide the fixture sizes and positions. The fixture selection lists models and quantities for pricing.

Interior Design & Material Selection

Bedrooms & Hotel Guest Rooms

We use the bed, nightstand and desk positions to coordinate reading lights, decorative fixtures and task lighting. For a hotel package, different bed and desk arrangements are reviewed by room type. Room counts then give the quantity basis for the selected fixtures.

Lighting Fixture Selection: Distribution, Size & Finish

We compare proposed fixtures by light distribution, dimensions, mounting requirements and exposed finish. The selected model connects the design to the product quote; a similar-looking alternative may need a different cutout, driver or mounting arrangement.

Beam Direction & Light Distribution

We review where the light needs to fall: across a work surface, onto artwork or around a dining table. Fixture position and the available beam or distribution information guide the selection. If a different model is proposed, its light distribution is reviewed alongside its appearance.

Color Temperature & Interior Finishes

We select color temperature alongside the wood, stone, paint and upholstery in the design, including adjoining rooms that will be seen together. Product samples or a physical review can be added where the finish or light appearance needs closer examination.

Fixture Size, Mounting & Electrical Data

Pendant dimensions, ceiling cutouts, recess depth and mounting method affect whether a fixture fits the design. The selected model’s voltage, driver and dimming information are also relevant. Model information follows each selected fixture into the product quote and the local electrical review.

Ceiling, Furniture & Electrical Inputs for Lighting Design

Room dimensions, ceiling construction and the furniture plan set the starting point. We use them to coordinate fixture positions and mounting options, then provide the agreed design and product information for review by the local electrical team.

Lighting Plan Review & Fixture Pricing

We review fixture positions against the furniture and ceiling plans, then price the selected models and quantities. A change to the room layout or fixture model returns to the relevant design and quotation review before the affected supply order is placed.

  1. Rooms & Lighting Design Brief

We review the available plans and existing fixture choices, then identify which rooms need a new layout, fixture selection or simulation. Our proposal lists the work and files included for those spaces.

  2. Develop the Layout & Fixture Choices

We develop fixture positions and product choices together. Where simulation is included, it supports review of the proposed arrangement. Feedback identifies the room, position or fixture to change, so the layout and selection stay aligned.

  3. Price the Fixtures & Deliver the Design Files

The fixture quote identifies models and quantities. Design files follow the agreed handoff, with the selected product information available for local electrical review. Design-only work ends with the files listed in the proposal; fixture purchasing proceeds only under the supply agreement.

A design-only commission ends with the lighting files listed in the proposal. Fixture supply is a separate engagement. Final electrical design, permits and on-site installation remain with the qualified professionals responsible for the project.

Lighting Design Fees, Files & Fixture Supply

The design fee depends on how many spaces need work, how different their uses are and how far the current lighting plan has developed. A single room with settled fixture positions involves different work from several room types needing layouts, selections and simulations.

Rooms, Layouts & Simulation Work
Our proposal identifies the spaces and the work to develop: a new lighting layout, selection against an existing plan, wiring-layout support or simulation. New room layouts and additional design directions add work beyond selecting fixtures for a settled scheme.
PDF Plans, CAD Files & Review Images
Design commissions can include PDF plans, editable CAD and review images. Our proposal lists the files and level of detail to be delivered, including simulation views or a report where commissioned.
Fixture Quotes & Design Revisions
Fixture costs are listed by selected model and quantity, apart from the design work. The proposal sets the included review rounds. Additional rooms, a changed direction or extra rounds are quoted with their time impact before work starts. Corrections to errors in our work do not use your revision allowance.

GEORGE Lighting Design & Product Selection

The group’s lighting services cover lighting layouts, wiring layouts and simulation, alongside fixture selection and quotation. This connects the room design to the lights being considered, with the specific design files and supply list defined for the project.

Lighting Design & Fixture Selection Questions

Can you work from my interior designer’s plans?

Yes. We use the room and furniture layouts, ceiling heights and finish direction to develop the lighting plan. A reflected ceiling plan and existing fixture list are useful where available. We identify which rooms need a new layout and which already have a design that needs fixture selection.

Does the lighting design include a simulation?

Lighting simulation is available within the agreed design work. Its usefulness depends on the room dimensions, surface information and data for the proposed fixtures. Our proposal identifies the input information and the views or report to be delivered for review.

Can dimmable fixtures be included in the selection?

Dimmable models can be considered. The selected fixture, driver and dimming method must work with the intended control arrangement. We use the available product information for selection; your local electrical team reviews the installed combination. A dimmable label on one component does not establish compatibility for the whole system.

Do you provide electrical permits or install the lights on site?

This service covers lighting design and product-selection support. Electrical permits, final circuit sizing, code review and on-site wiring or installation remain with qualified professionals at the project location. Wiring-layout support provides a design reference for that work.

Can the lighting plan account for cabinets and built-in furniture?

Yes, the layout can consider a light proposed within or beside a cabinet, shelf or ceiling recess. The fixture choice depends on the available opening, mounting space and electrical access. Product-specific cabinet details belong in the cabinet drawings, with electrical connections and access reviewed by the local installation team.

How are design work and fixture supply priced?

Design pricing depends on the rooms, layout work, fixture selections and simulation work. Fixture supply is quoted by selected model and quantity. The design proposal lists the files and included review rounds. Added rooms, a changed design direction or extra rounds are quoted before that work starts; correcting errors in our work does not use your revision allowance.
