Pale floor tiles, rust-colored square wall tiles and an oak bench beside a threshold to a wood-floored living area

Tile Design & Selection

Coordinate tile colors, formats and laying direction across your floors, walls and feature areas. We develop the tile design and product selections from your plans, with samples, exposed edges and quantity requirements reviewed before a tile order is approved.

Tile Design & Product Selections by Area

We develop the tile palette and design choices for the rooms and surfaces in your brief. The agreed views and selection list connect each area with its proposed product, format, surface, orientation and exposed edge details. Product quantities retain the area and packing basis used for the quote.

Tile Areas to Coordinate

  • Floor Fields & Room Connections

The main tile, pattern and direction across each included floor area, with the doorway or adjoining-room changes identified.

  • Wall Fields & Feature Areas

The wall tile and accent selections, their intended boundaries and their relationship to fixtures or neighboring surfaces.

  • Skirting, Ends & Trim Pieces

Exposed ends, corners and floor-to-wall details that need a selected edge treatment or a dedicated product.

Floor, Wall & Feature Tile Design

Floor Tile Formats & Laying Direction

We compare proposed formats, colors and patterns against the room shape and adjoining spaces. The design identifies the long-edge or pattern direction, how that direction meets doorways and where a different tile begins. Requested patterns are reviewed with the selected product information and local installer’s requirements before they enter the purchase selection.

Interior Design & Material Selection

Wall Tiles, Feature Areas & Edge Details

Wall and backsplash selections connect the field tile with accent areas, niches, corners and adjacent finishes included in the brief. We identify exposed tile ends, skirting and proposed trim or edge treatment as part of the design. Matching or contrasting pieces retain their own product, finish and quantity references.

Material Samples & Mock-Up Approvals

Tile Materials, Surface Finishes & Sample References

The product shortlist separates appearance choices from the selected tile’s stated specifications. We coordinate material type, format, surface and sample references with the project brief so the accepted product can be identified in the later quote.

Tile Type, Format & Product Identity

Selections name the proposed ceramic or porcelain product and its stated size, thickness and finish where available. A stone-look or wood-look appearance retains the actual tile material. Alternatives show their own product references and format differences instead of using one image to identify several products.

Color, Texture & Sample Comparison

We coordinate the requested physical samples with the design palette, adjoining finishes and intended grout appearance. The sample reference identifies the product and surface being reviewed. Shade variation and printed-face variation are considered using the selected product information and the samples or larger display available.

Application Requirements & Product Documents

Room use, wet exposure, traffic and cleaning requirements guide the product review. We request available supplier data or specified reports for the exact selection and pass them to the responsible local professionals. Their review covers technical suitability, installation system and any required slip or other performance criteria for the project.

Room Dimensions, Tile Direction & Edge Transitions

Plans and local site information connect the tile appearance to the actual surfaces. We review room boundaries, sightlines, doorways and adjoining materials when the design direction, pattern changes and edge choices are developed.

Tile Design Review, Samples & Purchase Approval

We develop the design choices into named product selections and review them with the buyer. Design approval establishes the accepted appearance and areas; a combined procurement order also needs the confirmed product references, quantities, pack conditions and delivery terms.

  1. Develop the Tile Palette & Area Design

We review the drawings, room uses, reference images and budget, then coordinate the proposed tile types, colors, formats and surface relationships. The agreed design views show direction, feature boundaries and the exposed edge choices within the commissioned areas.

  2. Review Samples & Resolve Product Questions

Selected samples are compared with the palette and adjacent finishes. Product identity, format, surface, variation and requested documentation stay connected to the affected selection. Feedback identifies the area or product to revise before the design and shortlist are accepted.

  3. Approve Selections & Order Quantities

For tile procurement, buyer approval identifies the accepted products, format and finish, quantities, trim pieces and delivery groups. The quote states the pack or unit basis, any proposed allowance and additionally requested spares. Availability and shade or batch references are checked with the supplier; any proposed substitution returns to the buyer for approval.

Tile design can be commissioned on its own or with procurement. Final site dimensions, construction setting-out, movement joints, substrates, waterproofing and installation remain with the qualified local project team. Product suitability and performance requirements are reviewed for the exact tile and installation conditions.

Tile Design Fees, Revisions & Product Quantities

Our proposal identifies the rooms, floor and wall areas, design views and selection information included. Design work, samples and product purchasing retain their own costs and acceptance references.

Design Areas & Agreed Files
The commissioned areas, alternative directions, layout views and product-selection detail determine the design work. Our proposal names the files and formats to deliver, including PDF, images or editable CAD where agreed. A tile design view and a construction installation drawing are separate deliverables.
Revision Rounds & Additional Design
Our proposal lists the included revision rounds, with consolidated feedback within the first brief. Extra rounds, added rooms or a new design direction are quoted with their fee and timing for buyer approval before work begins. Corrections to our own errors do not use the buyer’s revision rounds.
Samples, Tile Packs & Quantity Allowances
Sample preparation and delivery are included or charged as stated. Tile prices use the actual product, size, finish, order unit and quantity. Pattern cuts, room geometry, pack rounding and requested spare stock inform the proposed order quantity; the allowance is shown on its own line for buyer approval. Trim, freight and local installation each have their own lines.

Tile Design & Selection Questions

Can I commission tile design without placing a tile order?

Yes. The design proposal identifies the areas, views, selection detail, files and revision rounds being commissioned. Tile purchasing can be quoted on its own after the design and product choices are accepted.

Can you coordinate floor and wall tiles across several rooms?

Yes. We review the rooms and surfaces together, including adjoining finishes, feature areas and intentional changes between spaces. Each area retains its proposed product, format, surface and direction in the agreed design information.

How do we choose between tile sizes and laying directions?

We compare the proposed formats and directions against the room shape, sightlines, openings and adjacent areas. Selected product information and local installation requirements inform the pattern review. The accepted design identifies the direction and format before the product quantity is confirmed.

Can you select tiles for bathrooms or outdoor areas?

Those areas can be included in the brief. We use the actual exposure and local requirements to review proposed products and request relevant supplier data. The responsible local professionals confirm technical suitability, required performance and the waterproofing or installation system for the selected tile.

Will the sample and a later tile batch look identical?

A sample identifies the reviewed appearance and surface, while shade and printed-face variation depend on the selected product and supply batch. We review the actual supplier’s shade or batch references for the order and any later release. Matching later additions is assessed before they are accepted.

How are tile quantities, cut allowances and spares agreed?

The quantity review uses the confirmed area basis, selected format and pattern, packing units and the local installer’s cutting requirements. Proposed allowance and spare stock are shown on their own lines for buyer approval. The purchase quantity follows that review and the actual supplier’s pack conditions.
