Pre-Shipment Inspection for Building Materials

We coordinate pre-shipment checks for building materials and furniture supplied through the GEORGE network. We compare the agreed items with order drawings, samples and specifications, then identify findings, rechecks and decisions needed before shipment.

Discuss Inspection Requirements

Inspection Coverage by Product, Order & Batch

We agree which goods, quantities and checks the inspection covers. Product drawings, selected samples and order specifications establish the comparison, with the shipment quantity kept separate from the number of items actually examined.

Coverage referenceInformation for the inspection
Items & BatchOrder references, product descriptions and the batch proposed for inspection, with the shipment quantity distinguished from the checked quantity.
Approved Product ReferencesThe applicable drawings, material or finish samples, selected models and order requirements used to judge the goods.
Checks & Acceptance BasisThe appearance, dimensional or operational checks included, with product-specific methods and acceptance requirements where applicable.
Findings & Shipment DecisionThe observations to report, required follow-up and the responsibility for accepting the affected goods or authorizing shipment.

Product-Specific Checks for Building Materials & Furniture

Cabinetry & Furniture

For cabinetry and furniture, the agreed checks can cover overall dimensions, door and drawer alignment, selected hardware operation, finishes, exposed edges and joints. Any assembly or fit check is identified before inspection, along with the product reference and quantity to be examined.

Cabinet & Furniture Shop Drawings

Doors, Windows & Surface Materials

For doors and windows, the agreed checks can cover opening movement, fit and finished assembly. Stone and panels can be checked for specified piece dimensions, surface condition and exposed edges. We identify the points and quantity for each supplied product when agreeing the inspection.

Quality & Inspections

Dimensions, Finish, Quantity & Packaging Checks

We compare the agreed dimensions, finishes, operating parts, counts and packaging with their order references. Findings identify the product and the attribute checked, so an appearance issue or measured difference can be reviewed against the correct requirement.

Dimensions & Operating Parts

Dimensions are compared with the agreed drawing and units. For a door, drawer or mechanism, an included operation check addresses the movement or function specified for that product. The method, checked quantity and acceptance criteria are set in the inspection plan.

Finished Surfaces, Edges & Workmanship

Appearance checks address the finish face, exposed edge, joint or assembly identified in the plan. A finding states where the issue is and how it differs from the reference, with overall and detail photographs where included.

Item Counts, Labels & Packaging

The agreed check compares item or package counts with the order and packing information, then reviews the outer labels and protection. The plan states whether packages will be opened; checking external packaging does not establish the condition of every item inside.

Documents & Acceptance Criteria for Pre-Shipment Checks

We review the product list, drawing versions, sample references and specific concerns before the inspection is arranged. These inputs define what will be checked and how findings will be judged.

Order inputInformation requiredUse in the inspection
Product & Quantity ListItem references, descriptions, order quantities and the proposed shipment batch.Defines the goods concerned and separates the batch size from the inspection quantity.
Drawings & Approved SamplesApplicable versions, dimensions and finish or material references.Provides the basis for comparing the supplied item with the accepted product description.
Special Checks & Acceptance CriteriaParticular concerns and any agreed method, tolerance or functional requirement.Identifies what the inspection must address and which specialist work falls outside it.
Readiness, Access & ApprovalInspection location, product readiness, access and the contact responsible for the shipment decision.Sets the practical arrangement and the route for resolving findings before the affected release.

Inspection Findings, Corrections & Shipment Decisions

We connect each finding with the affected item, reference and follow-up decision. Corrections, rechecks and unresolved questions are separated, so the party responsible for shipment approval can decide on the affected goods.

  1. Record Product Inspection Findings

The agreed inspection record identifies the item, the reference used and the observed difference. Where photographs are included, overall and close-up views connect the finding to its position on the product.

  2. Corrections & Rechecks

We review the proposed correction or further assessment with the responsible parties and identify what needs rechecking. Access to the product and work already completed can affect whether the response is repair, replacement or another agreed disposition.

  3. Confirm the Shipment Decision

Recheck results and outstanding issues are provided for the agreed shipment decision. The order arrangement identifies who can authorize release and whether the affected goods are held, accepted with conditions or handled on their own terms.

This service concerns the supplied goods before shipment. Product certification, specialist testing and installation or acceptance at the destination are distinct, defined work.

Inspection Coverage, Records & Cost Factors

The arrangement depends on the product mix, quantities, location and checks required. Access, assembly, functional work and additional visits can change the work involved; the quotation identifies what is included.

Product Mix, Quantities & Access
Different product types need different inspection points. The number to be checked, inspection location, unpacking or assembly access and readiness of the batch affect the arrangement.
Inspection Photos & Written Findings
Where a record is included, it identifies the item and batch, the references used, the quantity examined, observations and actions still requiring approval. The proposal specifies the photographs, measurements or written findings to be provided.
Rechecks & Specialist Testing
A further visit, expanded coverage or specialist test is considered on its own. The required work, cost and effect on shipment planning are agreed for the order.

GEORGE Product Inspection & Order Support

The group’s product businesses provide category-specific inspection and quality support. NOVARMIA connects the proposed pre-shipment checks with the supplied items, agreed product references and order responsibilities.

Pre-Shipment Inspection Questions

Is this an independent third-party inspection?

No. This is supplier-related inspection support for the supplied order through the GEORGE network. If your contract requires an independent inspector or laboratory, that party and its terms need to be named on their own.

Do you inspect every item or use sampling?

The inspection arrangement identifies the items, batch and quantity to be checked. Sampling or full-item checks depend on the products and the agreed plan; neither is assumed for every order. The record needs to distinguish the shipment quantity from the quantity actually examined.

Which specifications are used for the checks?

The applicable order description, approved drawings, selected samples and agreed acceptance requirements provide the references. The relevant version and item must be identifiable. Dimensions, finish or function are checked against those references, with any special method or tolerance agreed for the product.

Can I receive photos and an inspection record?

Yes, when included in the inspection plan. The agreed record identifies the items and batch, references used, checked quantity, findings and outstanding decisions. Overall and detail photographs relate to the same item or finding; the proposal specifies the record and photos to be delivered.

What happens if an issue is found before shipment?

The finding is reviewed against the applicable specification and order stage. The affected item, proposed correction and any recheck are identified for agreement. Unresolved issues are kept separate from accepted work, with the shipment decision made by the party assigned that responsibility.

Does a pre-shipment check establish product certification?

No. Order-related visual, dimensional and applicable operation checks are different from laboratory testing or product certification. Required performance or compliance evidence must relate to the selected product and destination. Local installation and site acceptance also remain distinct tasks.
